Every SHOT Show, my friends and I always stop by the Fujifilm booth to check out their gears. Usually we were mostly interested in their cameras and lens, however, this year the new version of their Fujinon compact stabilized binoculars had caught my eye. Made for marine and vehicle application, the Fujinon Techno-Stabi series of binoculars has build in image stabilization. The compact model offer 3 degree of lens movement to compensate for hand movement or vehicle vibration.
Developed from the 12x28mm models that Fuji released not long ago, the new version now offers 16x magnification while maintains about the same size. The bino is powered by a lithium battery that will lasting up to 12 hours. The Fujinon Techno-Stabi bino has a 10 minutes auto switch off function to conserve battery.
The controls are very simple. Just a big focus wheel in the middle and a power switch dial. The eye piece are adjustable for both focus and pupillary distance.
The Fujinon Techno-Stabi compact bino is fairly small in hand. Weights just under a pound, the body is made from fiberglass-reinforced high impact plastic with all the lens are multi-coated with water and dust protection. The prisms are phase-coated for enhanced contrast and eliminating color-frigging. The image stabilization really works at 14x!
Coming in early 2019, the Fujinon Techno-Stabi compact 14x model will be retail for $650. I am looking forward to checking it out.
