For those of you who have a Generation 1 or 2 Glock have had issues adding weapon lights to them since they were made before the idea of a standardized rail system for hand guns was created. There were a couple of options to add a light and have it mounted to a Glock.
Below is an example of an aftermarket upgrade that will mount a 1″ diameter flashlight onto a Glock frame that does not have a rail. The flashlight mount sleeves over the trigger guard and positions a flashlight on the left side of the frame. This allows the light to be used with one hand if needed.
Since the flashlight mount accepts 1″ flashlights, I was able to mount this M3LT to my Gen 2 Glock.
Another option came from SureFire. They designed a rail that clamps onto the front of the trigger guard. It allows their early Millenium weapon pistol lights to mount onto this proprietary rail. Below is the P111D It is a polymer weapon light.
Below is the same setup. A polymer frame mount rail but with the metal SureFire M111D weapon light.
Now there is a better option. ReCover Tactical makes an inexpensive frame mounted rail that allows you to add any pistol light you want to your rail-less Glocks.
The RC12 Glock rail retails for $32.45 on their webstore.
