Nightforce will be finally release their long rumored 1-8x24mm tactical optic. Designated as the ATACR 1-8×24 F1 Advanced Tactical Scope, the new Nightforce is short at only 10 inch long but it’s still a bit heavy at 21 ounces weight. We will definitely checking this out at the SHOT Show 2018.
The new Nightforces 1-8x is made for mostly as a carbine optic. Although, by using a 34mm tube size for its 30 mils of total adjustment and a reticle with a lot of hashmark dots, it should be capable of doing some precision works.
The Nightforce ATACR 1-8x24mm features low profile turrets with the signature Nightforce serrations. The focus ring and the zoom ring also in the same Nightforce serration style. The illumination turret has off positions between each levels and the zoom ring has a build-in throw level.
The Nightforce FC-DM reticle at 1x. The small center segmented circle will appear as a red dot when the scope’s daylight visible illumination is turn on. Together with its true 1x, this new Nightforce 1-8x should be fast to use at close up.
At the max 8x magnification, the Nightforce FC-DM reticle offer all kind of hashmarks in mils. The dot grid or tree under center segmented circle offers a total holdover value of 10 mils with 1 mil between each dot. The center dot becomes visible and it has 0.35 mil size, which is slightly bigger than 1 MOA.
According to the release spec sheet the field of view is a bit tight at 1x at only 96 ft at 100 yards. However, FOV of 13.4 ft at 100 yards at the top end is about standard for a 1-8x. Interestingly, its non-adjustable parallax is set at 125 meters.
While Nightforce has not release the price yet, there is some rumor that this new 1-8x will cost $2700 MSRP.
