Colt haven’t made a modern revolver for a years. The introduction of the new snubnosed Cobra is something that I wasn’t expected at the Colt event at Gunsite in November 2016. The “Cobra” name was used previously by Colt for their double-action revolvers with barrel shorter than 4 inch.
At the Gunsite range, we shot the two pre-production samples extensively. The Colt Cobra felt great in hand and the fiber optic front sight makes it super easy to aim. This sample still has the old blue color fiber optic front sight, we were informed by the Colt engineer that the production version will have the more visible red color fiber optic. Optional tritium front sight will be also available as add-on.
The two ladies from “Shoot Like A Girl” seems to really like the Colt Cobra revolver.
The new Colt Cobra is made from stainless steel and the workmanship is superb. The matte finish on the stainless frame seems to be resistant to finger print. The Corba is chamber for .38 Special and holds six rounds in the cylinder.
The grip fits my hand well and the recoil is mild with the non- +P ammo that we used. The Cobra is rated for +P pressure .38 Special ammo. The trigger pull in single-action is light and precise. While the double-action trigger pull is long as expected from a revolver, but it’s not heavy and it’s very smooth.
