Recent news broke of Salient Security Services (SSS) filing for bankruptcy. At first glance some people jumped to the conclusion that Salient Arms International was also in trouble. Adrian Chavez, President of Salient Arms International (SAI), went on record saying the rumors of SAI’s demise was mistaken.
We have since learned that there are many companies associated with one or both of the Chavez brothers using the Salient name.
Salient Arms International (SAI), Nevada – The firearm manufacturer started by the Chavez brothers.
Salient Security Services, Inc. (SSS), California – The original Salient. A security company that at one time traded as Salient Arms International. Closed down a few years back when the brothers moved to Nevada.
Salient Operations Group (SOG), (Location Unknown) – Possibly the successor to Salient Security Services. Ownership unknown. Same Salient logo. The SSS website redirects to the SOG website.
Salient Arms International ???, Nevada – Mikayel Israyelyan’s Linkedin profile lists him as the CEO of a company called Salient Arms International, headquartered at 5425 S Valley View Blvd, Las Vegas, a building which does have the Salient logo on the side. We do not know the full legal name of this entity, who owns it or if it still operates, or its connection to SAI.
Well we were able to discover that while SAI may not actually be in trouble, between them SSS and the Chavez brothers are embroiled in at least 5 lawsuits.
If you look at the Superior Court of California, County of Ventura, you can find three separate lawsuits filed by women against Salient Security Services, and two men, Bingham and Rai, filed one lawsuit against the company.
Meanwhile, SSS has a lawsuit against Agency Arms.
It is worth pointing out that the woman suing SSS, are all using the same attorney as Agency Arms.
The Four Employment Related lawsuits are:
- Dickinson vs.Salient Security Services (Wrongful Termination)
- Garner vs Salient Security Services (Employment related)
- Zafra vs Salient Security Services (Employment related)
- Bingham and Rai vs Salient Security Services (Employee Classification)
The two other lawsuits are:
- Mikayel Israyelyan vs. Adrian Chavez and Aaron Chavez (Civil).
- Salient Security Services vs. Agency Arms LLC (Civil)
As of writing, many of these lawsuits are scheduled for trial in October.
The Employment Lawsuits
Dickinson is suing for wrongful termination while Garner’s and Zafra’s lawsuits are listed as Other Employment under Case Type. From our source, the “Other Employment” based lawsuit stems from sexual harassment.
Garner’s lawsuit had a mandatory settlement conference (MSC) and jury trial vacated back in February and March of this year.
Dickinson’s lawsuit had a MSC and Jury trial dated the same time as Garner’s however they were rescheduled. The MSC is scheduled for 9/18/2017 and the Jury Trial is scheduled for 10/16/17
Garner is listed as plaintiff in Zafra’s lawsuit and they too have the same rescheduled dates for MSC on 9/18/17. Just 6 days after Salient Security Services filed bankruptcy.
On top of those three women suing SSS, there is another lawsuit filed by Bingham and Rai. You can view the case here.
According to Neda Roshanian of Safarian and Baroian LLP who represents both Bingham and Rai in their lawsuit against SSS, these lawsuits allege “Salient misclassified employee status. This allowed them to avoid certain California Taxes, not pay benefits, worker’s comp, and overtime”. Safarian and Baroian LLP are seeking $500k in Damages.
Mikayel Israyelyan vs. Salient Arms International
Salient Arms International in Clark County, Nevada, is being sued by Mikayel Israyelyan. Both Adrian Chavez and Aaron Chavez are listed as defendants in the case. Evike Chang is mentioned in the lawsuit but is no longer part of it (Yes the same Evike as in the Airsoft company who has exclusive rights to SAI airsoft products.).
Here is a simplified organizational chart regarding Salient Security Services, Adrian and Aaron Chavez, Salient Arms International and Mikayel Israyelyan.

There is even a lawsuit between SSS and Agency Arms. Click here to read more about that.
Salient Security Services – Additional Information
We were also able to get a copy of the bankruptcy documents.
Here is a list of open cases against SSS.
Here is the list of their creditors. All combined the company has $225,000 in disputed claims:
There is a lot of litigation surrounding Aaron and Adrian Chavez as well as Salient Security Services. Adrian Chavez is on record saying the following to Breech Bang Clear:
Salient Security Services, a long dormant organization, is declaring bankruptcy, but this, according to Chavez, is part of a “…tidying up process.” This is, he advises, a calculated step necessitated by an evolution that will be bringing significant changes to Salient and others in the firearms/tactical industry very soon.
“It’s not even the same company,” Chavez says. “It has nothing to do with firearms, or the company we’ve now been operating for years.”
It is odd that he chose to call this a “tidying up process”. I have heard other mention that the bankruptcy is necessary to dissolve SSS. What is more likely is that the bankruptcy is being used to stall out the settlement conference and delay the trials of these lawsuits. Basically they do not want to pay these people.
All the information presented is public record. Aside from the info we got from our source and the quote from Bingham and Rai’s attorney. We are currently working on obtaining the full complaints for each of these cases. They will have the full details of what the plaintiffs are accusing The Chavez brothers and Salient. As soon as we get them we will post them up in a follow-up article.
